There are not often events on in town around music or sound in games so this one might be worth checking out.

on a related topic (that topic being Game Audio of course) EA are releasing three soundtracks to their big titles.
Mass Effect 2's looks (IMO) to be the one to look out for, with 27 tracks.
Dante's Inferno, and Bad Company 2 are also coming to an iTunes near you.
