Get school students excited about coding and participate in I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here Ireland!

I’m an Engineer is an online activity where engineers talk to school students from all over Ireland at imanengineer.ie.

Games developers are wanted for the Coding Zone in the next event, funded by SFI Discover and running between 29th February–11th March, alongside Engineers Week.

Taking part is a novel and exciting way to develop your communication skills, gain a fresh perspective on your work, and find out what young people think about engineering and the role of engineers. You’ll also raise awareness of the available careers in your field, and show students that engineers are real people they can talk to!

In the event you answer online questions sent to you from students and talk to classes in live, text-based, chats along with four fellow engineers. Students then vote for their favourite engineer, who wins €500 to fund more outreach activities.

Everything happens online, so it’s easy for you to take part from your laptop at work, or from your phone on the train, or from anywhere else in between…

Apply by Sunday 24th January at imanengineer.ie/engineers-apply. It only takes two minutes and a one sentence description of your work. Any members of Engineers Ireland are awarded one day of CPD for taking part.

If you have any questions at all, contact antony@gallomanor.com.
