I had an amazing time at GameCraft.

I have kind of flaked out of the last few Jams, relegating myself to support and distraction rolls. But this time I dug back in and made a thing.

I have been going to jams for a few years now and the most striking thing for me is how much better the games are getting. The first few GGJ produced some really rough stuff, but going this year I was really blown away.

I wonder, is this due to the improvement of education, the maturation of the industry, the tools getting better of something else.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to the next jam. I am hoping there will be an Irish MollyJam site this year. Hope to see you all there.

I think it might be the efforts of people like yourself, Andrea, andrew, vicky and all the other indies heading along and sharing their knowledge

+1; I noticed the quality as well, certainly a big jump from DGC1! It’s also great to see familiar faces (students, indies, devs, hobbyists) returning to the various GameCraft events. And the big thing about GameCraft is about sharing knowledge, making something, learn and bring like-minded people together who otherwise are consumed with their college work, indie game, other jobs and so on.

So who’s up for Derry GameCraft @ CultureTech on Sat 14th September! And don’t worry, we will announce when registration starts.

Can you check your attendance lists against http://www.gamedevelopers.ie/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7208&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= and let me know if there are ones missing? I’m including dev teams, as well as companies

    Cheers

The current feature is about game jams and includes interviews with some gamecraft folks.

Talks to all for taking the time to talk to Pavel

There seems to be this great swell of confidence in terms of game design. Seems to be a combination of the number of game design courses out there, BCFE, Griffith, Pulse etc. and quick SDKs. Saw some great Unity and GameMaker games at the last one, from students who make games all the time.
Plus the standard keeps rising because you look at the games emerging from the previous Gamecraft and you know the minimum level you should be aspiring to.
    It’s pretty awesome :)

    Hi All,

It’s been an exciting year so far for Global GameCraft.

This Saturday we see our first overseas GameCraft in London, we have 100 registered so far. Registration is still open. Details: http://dublingamecraft.com/events/london-gamecraft/.

In September we have Nintendo getting involved with Derry GameCraft at CultureTECH, if you want to try out their Nintendo Web Framework making a game for the Wii U, this is your chance. If you want to use your own tools, you can do that also. Be sure to get some creative juices going by visiting the Super Fun Happy Games Bar! ;-)

    To register: http://dublingamecraft.com/events/derry-gamecraft/

Right after Derry GameCraft, we will be jetting off to New York for our first American GameCraft! If you are around on Sept 20th, come join us! Details: http://dublingamecraft.com/events/new-york-gamecraft/

And a wee preview that we are working on getting Cork GameCraft going at the end of the year. Stay tuned. :-)

    Cheers,

Is anyone going to Derry Gamecraft?

I really want to get the bus but we need more people to sign up.
Its the first 24 hour gamecraft and I have a powerful need to make a game based on the hit TV show dogging tales.

Come on folks! Lets head up there!
