ive been a member since last year and i got a free subscription to Game Developer magazine when i joined. but i havent got one now for about 2 months, more specifically when my year was up, but i signed & paid up again.

is the free game developer subscription only applicable to your first year as an IGDA student member.

i suspect my membership is going to go up soon now that im nearly out of the academic system.

    Hi Peter,

the Game Developer mag subscription is no longer included in the IGDA membership. The IGDA is no longer affilated with CMP (the publishers) although the two orgs continue to work together on GDC.

In short, you have to pay for the mag from now on

    ah..
    cheers tony

twas a nice perk while it lasted. 30 euro i think IGDA membership and free 12 month subscription to the magazine, worth about 90euro.

    yeah, I know… bummer it’s gone

still worth getting a sub to the mag, if you can afford it though. although, i suspect Develop is a better buy content wise

Develop is still free even if you live outside of the UK. From my understanding you only have to pay for postage. The site says:

“Develop is free to UK readers, and available for a token postal charge to overseas subscribers. “
