There was some sounding this time around for a Thursday night. Comments, dates etc?
November 5, 2003 at 11:13 am #9887
Fridays suit us lads who have to travel better, but to be fair I understand that Friday doesn’t suit everyone so if it’s gonna be Thursday this month, the earlier we decide the better so arrangements can be made
November 6, 2003 at 11:11 am #9902
well we have Thurs 27th, Fri. 28th and Sat. 29th to consider.. someone else thought a Sat. might be good too..I don’t really have a preference…it is up to you guys..
I thought the pub was good this time though!
November 6, 2003 at 11:21 am #9903
Saturday might be cool, if we kicked off around the usual 7 mark
November 14, 2003 at 7:56 am #9980
I’d opt for the Thursday night, as some have expressed an interest in trying this evening in the past (as an alternative to the Friday) and I’m not convinced we’ll get any kind of decent attendance on a Saturday night…
November 14, 2003 at 11:49 am #9982
I’m OK with giving Thursday a try
November 14, 2003 at 2:15 pm #9987
Thursday evening suits me better than a Friday or Saturday.
Certainly I think a Saturday would be problematic for a lot of people.
November 14, 2003 at 9:52 pm #9997
I dont mind what night but if it was on a thursday it would need to be later than 7 for me (maybe others) toget there.
Friday is good also.

ok I think the general agreement is for Thurs the 27th this time. I know the guys in Torc are up to their eyes at the moment so hopefully they won’t mind ..
Skyclad is going to check out if Mahaffey’s is ok for a Thurs night so bear with us on the venue…

If only it were this weekend I’d be able to meet you all but alas maybe next month I’ll time my trip home to coincide with the shindig!!!
November 18, 2003 at 10:01 am #10010
im doing the ludo course at the moment, just wanted to know about any age restrictions in regards to who can go to the shindigs?
November 18, 2003 at 10:05 am #10011
only age restrictions are those imposed by those serving in the pub..if you are underage we will buy you an orange juice..
November 19, 2003 at 12:39 pm #10046

November 20, 2003 at 12:12 am #10058
I’ve booked Mahaffey’s for Thursday 27th, so come one and all and be merry. Am definately looking forward to meeting a few of the folks for whom Fridays dont suit.
A quick recap on directions…
“on the corner of Pearse st/westland row, about half a minutes walk from Pearse Street Dart station”. Currently has scaffolding up aorund it, but is nice and quiet inside.

Bit premature I guess seeing as this thread is about November, but December? Dunno how long or when I’m going to be home. Was wondering is there one going to be planned, as going with the usual dates will clash will xmas parties no doubt?
I might actually be able to make this one if it happened.
November 21, 2003 at 11:29 am #10074
Usual here, I’ll probably be free so I’ll probably be there, whenever suits.
November 24, 2003 at 1:40 pm #10102
So the venue is Mahaffys on Thursday 27th – what time?
November 24, 2003 at 1:47 pm #10103

November 25, 2003 at 11:04 am #10112

November 27, 2003 at 1:56 pm #10129

November 27, 2003 at 2:40 pm #10130
Hey all, have fun!! looks like if I join you at the next one I’ll be a pro rather then a wannabe game developer…
November 28, 2003 at 12:56 pm #10133
anyone want to do a brief summary of what happened earlier in the evening last night…since I didn’t arrive until about 10.45 in the end…
I can report that people went from Mahaffys to Doyles and there was a lively discussion as to the relationship between gamedevelopers.ie and the IGDA Ireland chapter..as it stands we are cooperating closely but distinct entities…there seemed to be some support for things to stay that way…
November 28, 2003 at 2:49 pm #10134
Sorry I couldn’t make it at all last night, good things still happening.
For those interested, the Ludo course classes are going to be held in Arts block Ballyfermot and not in Dame street from next week onwards. In arts block for a while, waiting for new building to be completed.
November 28, 2003 at 3:56 pm #10139
A lot of the conversation earlier on in the evening involved the IGDA too. Having come directly from the first meeting, there were a lot of questions asked about goals, aims, who was to be involved etc.
We all agreed that the extended 4 DVD Two Towers was excellent, though there was some dispute about Matrix: Revolutions.
Other then that, there were a quite few new faces which is always good to see. There was one guy (I’ve lost the name, apologies) working on distributed systems and noting that the next gen consoles will probably require some sort of additional level of middleware to handle the (4-16) processors going into these machines. That moved on to some discussion of the requirements (in terms of people) that the next gen consoles will need to create AAA games.
There were quite a few tables of people, so I am sure there was a lot more then that going on over the course of the evening – Upstart/Konami popped up a few times aswell as the usual spreading of rumours about what Torc/Kapooki etc were up to.
November 28, 2003 at 4:22 pm #10142
4 – 16 processors?
I heard a rumour that the PS2 would be consists of 8 processors and each of these would have 8 slave processors working off it, leading to 72 processors….
