Cartoon Saloon and StoryToys came away with gongs for TV series ‘Puffin Rock’ and the app ‘My Very Hungry Caterpillar’ respectively.
The annual Kidscreen Summit took place in Miami, Florida and attracted some high-profile names, including Donald Sutherland (promoting Pirate’s Passage, his baby) and Geena Davis (giving a speech about gender equality in children’s media) as well as some heavy-hitters from various kid-centric corporations and television stations.
Cartoon Saloon’s Puffin Rock won for Best New Series and Best Animated Series. The show features the voice of Chris O’Dowd and follows the adventures of Oona the puffin. Based in Kilkenny the company are certainly making a name for themselves in broadcast animation.
Meanwhile StoryToys, based in Dublin have won a second major accolade for My Very Hungry Caterpillar (after scooping a BolognaRagazzi last year). This time they took the Best Game App (Tablet) Award.Well done to Barry, Gavan and co.
The app is based on the work of renowned illustrator and author Eric Carle. Eric Carle’s much-loved character, The Very Hungry Caterpillar™, has won the hearts of millions of children around the world for more than 45 years. StoryToys has brought The Very Hungry Caterpillar to life in a stunning 3D interactive app.
