Last week the winners of the Your Country Your Call competition were announced.

One of the winners was Neil Leyden, who people here on gd.ie might remember was on the panel with Peter Molyneux for the games event which was hosted as part of the Jameson Dublin International Games Festival.

According to online reports his proposal is to create a ‘Irish Content Industry Association which would then drive the development of a cultural and creative quarter, a Media Park to attract global content industries, and creating the necessary legislative and regulatory environment to make Ireland a leading global centre for the creation and distribution of digital content.’

See http://brendanhughes.ie/2010/09/17/your-country-your-call-winners/ to hear Neil explain his idea.

Neil is already involved in a related business, The Digital Media Forum (see http://www.digitalmediaforum.net/).

It would be great to hear more about the plan and to hear how exactly this goal will be achieved. Details on the winning concepts are difficult to come by and the games industry here in Ireland should be a part of it.
