State of Play (online) speakers announced

This year’s State of Play games conference and festival, organised by TU Dublin,  is a fully online event.

They have a  diverse list of speakers representing local and international game start-ups, studios, content creators and technology providers covering areas such as retro gaming, game design, music production, narrative design and game tech.

5 new academic posts in School of Computer Science – NUI Galway

Academic Job Opportunities in Computer Science – May/June 2021

The National University of Ireland Galway seeks to recruit excellent candidates for up to 5 new academic posts in the School of Computer Science.

For these vacancies, the School of Computer Science strongly welcomes applications from members of under-represented groups. The School and NUI Galway are committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity and to creating and sustaining an environment that values and celebrates the diversity of our staff and student body.

The posts are:

NUI Galway, which was founded in 1845, is a publicly funded research-led university and is ranked in the top 1% universities in the world. NUI Galway holds a strong international reputation in Computer Science research and in translating this research into well-recognised teaching programmes.

The School of Computer Science is recognised for its research in theoretical and applied computer science, and its high-quality and highly popular postgraduate taught programmes, complementing its strengths in undergraduate teaching. Academics in the School are actively engaged in a wide variety of research topics.

For the 4-year special purpose post, applications are invited from academics with any teaching and research specialisms that complement those of the School of Computer Science.

For the three Lecturer posts and the Senior Lecturer post, applications are specifically invited from candidates who can demonstrate a world-class research profile, or its potential from excellent industry experience, as well as teaching expertise in one in the following four specialisms:

(A)  Cybersecurity;
(B)  DevOps;
(C)  Cloud Computing;
(D)  Games (particularly modelling and design).

Research contribution is of fundamental importance for these posts. The appointees must be capable of acting as scientific investigator on large-scale projects and will be expected to provide leadership to the members of their research group.
