This is similar to a thread already posted but not so much gaming oriented.
I am in second year of a computing course and i (hopefully) will be graduating with a higher certificate next year. I already have a FETAC award in software development and networking.
I plan to get a Ordinary Degree possibly Honors but what I am looking for is work experience in the Cork City area.I’m not sure whether to blitz a load of companies with cv’s and cover letters or what. is it a good idea to e-mail the cv or snail mail it?
Any comments greatly appreciated,

Lots of places are fine with emailed CVs but there is the case that they can simply click delete when you see the title “Employment” or whatever you put.
If you snail mail it, someone WILL read it. Maybe not the person you hoped, but at least it will be read.
Also some people prefer to hold a piece of paper, and the glossier it is the better.
So, I reckon snail mail is probably better.However,I’ve never done that, I’ve always emailed :) I’ve always gone with the approach of emailing and if they want more, they’ll ask me to post or email and I’ll oblige either way :)

i found that most companies ignore emails for placement students, i emailed so many companies when was looking for a placement, and about 10% replied, saying no!

I finish my pgdip in games tech and went home for a while and thought I might as well sign on for the dole for a few weeks while I was looking for work. This requires you to sign up with FAS. It was a funny experience. Going in there and being told that I’m over qualified for anything they might have and perhaps i’d be better approaching companies myself.
