Ive just checked it out, its up already.
The site itself is a bit messy! Its a tad sore on the eyes. Apart from some mongos taking the mickey in the forum, its contains some interesting content and links.

Dare was a great event today I thought, I enjoyed the overview of what the compotition is actually about and the panel speakers proved to have interesting points. Some of which were a litle duanting. All the same I was happy with the event. Well done to all those involved.

Don’t feel daunted. If you’re a student entering Dare you get to make and learn from all the common industry mistakes they were talking about for free. It should only feel daunting if screwing-up is going to cost you anything. If it’s not, just muck in and make your game — you won’t get another chance like it.

…well you will as long as you’re in college, but you know what I mean.

By the way, I mentioned this at the Q&A session at the end, but for those who missed it, anyone looking to get their hands on an engine should cosnider teaming up with Ballyfermot Game Design students. Caveat: Ballyfermot animation students probably won’t be able to provide the same technology, though they’re well worth putting on your team as well. Email me if you’re looking for team mates and I’ll stick up a notice for you in the college.

I understand Shane, and obviously having a pesimistic view isn’t healthy(in some cases)but it does gear you for the possibilty of failure, in the real Industry and not Dare. One other point that took my notice was the emphasis on Mobile gaming, having been around for years albiet in the guise of the Game Boy I find it interesting that only now are mobile games coming into their own. Obviously the the ability of the mobile phone being able to reach mass market is a benefit and in an instant I reckon this niche will explode. But again I was surprised at the emphasis on this. One of the panel speakers from TKO assaulted us with a barrage of bullet points which I imagine would be wise to take note of. Interesting ones were TKO’s methods of hiring staff. White board acompanied by pier pressure multiplied by anxiety and you have something not so far from being at the recieving end of a judicial sentence, LOL. No, seriously it was a good event and I for one will be seriously considering the event. If I can find a way to pay off my loan by next summer that is.
