hey guys,
spotted some moaning about he lack of bots in BF2, for a coop mode.
well, you can (i’ve done it – unless the recent patch killed it).
get your host to start a game in single player mode.
everyone just logs in their multiplayer acc,
hit the “connect to ip” button, and put in the hosts address.
easy.atm this means your limited to smaller maps as bots only work on the 16 player ones.
this is actually how it was with bf1942 – bot support for coop mode got released in a patch months after the game was released, so i’m hoping we’ll see it soon.there are some issues btw, when people connect to the single player game – it sometime replaces the bots with the person, other times it just leaves the bot in.
and sometimes on round restart, the host thinks the existing bots are human players, and adds another 16 bots!
so you have 30-40 bots on a tiny 16 player map.

That doesnt solve the problem that the bots aren’t really up to scratch. Better then the previous installations of Battlefield, but still not on par with UT2k4. Thanks for the info though. Makes it slightly more interesting.

BF2SP64 is a modification for the full version of Battlefield 2 that will replace the original 16 player map sizes with the much larger 64 player map sizes. Including the additional Control Points, vehicles, & stationary weapon emplacement that the multiplayer 64 size maps have.
BF2SP64 also works great for Coop games in small Lan environments, so you and your friends can combat those bots.
