PS3’s Stereoscopic firmware update

The PS3 is getting a stereoscopic firmware update so that you can break out the "3D glasses" from when you went to see Shrek 3D, and enjoy a similar experience.

seems pretty cool. I suppose its giving people an IMAX-like home gaming experience.

Looked into this topic a little more, and found that Unity (game engine) ships with some stereoscopic samples, and there’s some cool samples in this field here:

A colleague of mine also has a pair of NVidia’s 3D glasses on his desk, so I gave them a go also (in conjunction with Unity) and have to say, it was pretty cool.

Much like a physical "volume control" on your speaker system, these glasses come with a physical "depth control" which in fairness was cool.

Anyway, just thought I’d share the wealth. This tech didn’t make much headway in traditional TV/Film but perhaps its better suited to games.
