Thought I’d pass this on, should be interesting for any devs who can travel to the UK in July:
Hi Everyone,
Anna Sweet and DJ Powers from Valve are over in the UK for Develop at the beginning of July. *They are sensitive to the fact that not all Indies are able to attend Develop for various reasons, but they are keen to engage more closely with the UK indies. *They’ve got in contact with me and asked if I can put together an event where they can meet up with a few indies in a relaxed environment. *They want to run through a presentation which I imagine will cover the future plans for Steam and how best to pitch titles to them. *Anna is one of the "Gate keepers" at Valve so meeting her and learning what she wants to see in a pitch will be a really useful for anyone that wants to get a game on steam.
The plan is to find a pub somewhere in central London (zone 1). *I need to know how many people are interested so I can find the right sized venue. *There will be a limit on the number of people who can attend and we’ll control access on a first come / first served basis. The event will be early evening with the presentation starting at about 5.30 followed by a few drinks / refreshments (Valve have agreed to put some money behind the bar) lasting a couple of hours where you’ll be able to meet Anna / DJ and have a chat.
In my opinion Steam is the single most important sales channel for indies, steam sells *a lot* of games and also give a massive credibility boost to developers that use the platform.
If you are interested I need you to sign up here:

and in early June I’ll look for a venue and send out the final invitations towards the beginning of July. It’s First come First Served, so write your name down now!
Secondly please forward this email to any other indie devs that you know. *I’m not going to try to tell you what indie is, because you already know, but to be clear this is not for the larger players. *Please respect this when you forward the mail. *I do want to try to reach the whole community so if you are not a developer, but included it’s so you can pass this on to anyone you know who will benefit.[/quote:c1679da3ca]
