The Irish School of Animation at Ballyfermot College has teamed up with KINOPOLIS, the Polish Film Festival in Dublin and Pegbar to bring you an event that is open to animation students: a Q&A session with multi-award winning Polish animator Tomasz Bagiński on Sunday 6th November at 2pm in Filmbase, Temple Bar (http://www.filmbase.ie/venue/index.php).
Tomasz Bagiński is a self-taught director and animation producer. His second short animation “The Cathedral” (2002) won first prize for Best Animated Short Film at the largest animation and special effects festival SIGGRAPH in 2002 and was nominated a year later for an Academy Award in the category Short Animated Film.
His next film, “Fallen Art” (2004) won the Jury prize at SIGGRAPH festival in 2005. Bagiński became the first director in the history of the festival to win both main prizes. “Fallen Art” also received the BAFTA Film Award for Best Short Animation. He completed his latest film “The Kinematograph” in 2009 and is currently developing his first full-length feature film “Hardkor 44”.
