I had a look at the Project Offset site, and I think you are bang on the money.
The technology in that engine, (effects, animation, ai) is all pretty unified, and if it works as well as it says it does…
I guess Intel needed to do something to maintain PC’s place in the games domain, so making it easier by having a unified Intel Framework for developers to use is a smart move. I wonder if they plan on simply giving it away???
As for Havok’s stuff. I’m happily suprised with the level of tutorials and tech documents they released. That was one thing I felt Ageia did really well, as their training material was well thought out, modular, and mostly up to date. Although I read somewhere that Ageia are planning to pull the plug on their training material from 2.8.x onwards. Which in my opinion, is galactically stupid.
