I’m a huge fan of ‘Mafia’, and one of the reasons I spent so much time with that game was the realistic ambience of the city. I’d often simply wander around watching people and cars go about their daily business.
I can’t help but feel that GTA:SA would have benefited from some of this ‘everyday’ ambience. If I watch any crossroads in GTA for a few minutes, I can expect to see numerous shootouts, collisions, people being knocked-over, lampposts crashing down and cars skidding into buildings.
Although I acknowledge that these are two very different games, perhaps a little more time creating a more sensible AI and sophisticated path-finding routines might have captured a little more of the formers ‘real-world’ feel.
Then again, who am I to criticise the worlds most popular game?
