I agree too, there are plenty of ways to reach our users without having to post here, and to be honest if Riot wanted to advertise their jobs here directly, they know that they could do so for free and not have to worry about fees and commissions via a recruiter.
We’ve kept recruiters away from the forums for a long time, and if we let one recruiter on the forums do this, every single other one will follow quickly, and we have gotten through ten years without having anything to do with gambling on this forum, and I’d like to keep it that way.
An alternate for GD.ie is to charge a modest fee for posting a listing on the site, recruitment companies have to pay to get their jobs up on irishjobs.ie etc and they’re making between 10% and 20% of the annual salary of the person they’re placing (so if the job is 30k, they get 3k or 6k commission for the placement).
With this in mind, if the company is a member of the community, it should be free to post as many jobs (especially if a GD.ie member has a realistic change of getting it) as they want for free, but if the person is from a 3rd party who is going to make a profit out of a placement they source via GD.ie, then a nominal fee (towards the food at the next shindig, server costs etc) should be in place.
After all, it’s one of the most targeted places on the net for the Irish game development community, and a PayPal charge would be fair.
