Well some games companies insist on only dealing with recruiters. For whatever reason. I’d rather have those jobs advertised here than not. Otherwise they’re not getting the word out as directly to the community as they could be. I guess dealing with a recruiter makes a lot more sense in a country with a vibrant industry and dedicated games recruiters, where you can assume a certain amount of vetting/ filtering and due diligence on candidates by the recruiters. We don’t really have that situation here because we don’t have any experienced games specific recruiters (due to not having much of a games sector here).
But with regards to Riot, the recruiter who started this post has already mentioned the company they are recruiting for. Those jobs are up on the Riot site. The word is out. The jobs have now been essentially advertised and you can apply direct and bypass the recruiter altogether. A job is a job is a job. Recruiters may not be popular but this site is the primary games industry site here and all games jobs should get a mention here regardless. At the end of the day, this site denying people the ability to advertise games jobs is not going to help grow our current microscopic ‘industry’ here now is it? So I say put the animosity aside (however justified) and embrace the necessary evil of the recruiter. Beggars can’t be choosers.
