Pretty negative man. [/quote:2bff97c43f]
I was negative, I accept, although no more so than any good guide to starting an indie project on the Internet would have been.
I’m not sure it’s helpful or positive to tell people with obviously unfeasible ideas that their project sounds great, tbh, and it was in that context I posted; I think sometimes the best thing a team can do is rapidly realign to a more achievable goal, before they lose their momentum. Such realignment is unlikely to happen if no-one tells them they are not being realistic, or if they just hear their project is great. (I think the idea sounds interesting, but the project is not, because it is too ott).
Fair enough its ambitous but doesnt mean they cant get somewere. Aim for the stars and you’ll hit the ceiling and all that.
Best of luck to them. Looking forward to seeing something being produced.[/quote:2bff97c43f]In general, part time projects that are way over ambitious don’t get anywhere at all, they just fizzle out. It’s usually more a case of aim for the stars and you’ll never get off the ground.
I think the people behind them are better served by being told to aim a little lower the first time.Best of luck to them. Looking forward to seeing something being produced.[/quote:2bff97c43f]
Absolutely, I too wish them the best of luck.
As I said in my post, I think that you gotta give people credit for starting something, even if you think it’s over ambitious, and hopefully things work out in future; but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with saying ‘Look, this just isn’t realistic, it’s a poor selection of project’.
Edit – actually, is this even a relevant conversation? Noticed it’s been over 3 months since the first post – didn’t realise the second post was replying after a time lapse.
