I bought Bioshock for the 360 last week, great game but heck does it crash a lot. My brother also bought it on PC and it wont even run. After checking 2k games forums it seems an awful lot of people are having the exact same problem. So I checked other forums and the problem seems really widespread, with the same basic problem a "Bishock.exe has stopped working" error. It appears that the wrong version of DirectX was included on the disc, the patch servers crashed, and the patch doesnt fix the problem anyway. Seems like a really shoddy launch to me. My brother is seriously considering bringing the game back and demanding a refund. This sort of behaviour is unheard of! I’m worried about him.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience

I fancied a go on the PC version of bioshock last night, when to my horror AVG reported bioshock.exe as a virus and removed the exe from my machine!! A reinstall didn’t help as activation and patch downloading failed. In th eend I removed AVG and installed avast instead. Problem solved but I still have fierce problems getting it to work fullscreen in Vista.

Just checked 2k games forums again. The tech support thread for bioshock is now 125 pages of problems. Zero official responses that I can see but I didnt read all 125 pages only about 15-20 of them.

Apparently the false positive virus for bioshock in AVG is now fixed in the latest update for AVG

That was just the activation part of the installer Pete. I have AVG installed and I just ignored the warning it gave me since I knew what it was trying to do.
As for the other problems, I have read of a few serious problems with crashes and such. The main problem that I can see seems to be the lack of graphical scaling options given. In my case I was playing it on full whack at 1280×1024 and everything was fine for the first level. When it tried to load the second level, however, it crashed after about 2 mins. A quick search on the net gave me the necessary info, all I needed to do was disable the High Res Shaders in the Options menu, did that and bang, it worked.
Other options that really shouldnt be missing are the options to set various levels of AA and Ansio. They would have made a huge difference to preformance on lower to mid end systems but for some reason you’re not given the option. :?

My 360 Bioshock runs perfectly. And is GREAT!
I heard there is problems with ATI where polygons that have complicated shaders just vanish. Mad.
Woo console gaming for pretty games….

I bought an elite yesterday with this game. Great game…BUT.
It is a loud bastard of a console. I am going to have to get headphones, and I am not joking. Fans going full pelt during Bioshock and Blue Dragon play, whisper quiet during Halo1. Also, i wouldn’t exactly call it slowdown, but at points during both games I get a significant frame drop. I did not just blow 450 for a loud machine with slowdown, but that’s what I seem to have. I thought the elite was a superior machine…hm.
Incidentally, anyone now any really cheap headphones that I can use with my 360? One’s that fake 5.1 preferably? How would I connect them up, as there is no headphone jack on my crappy TV?

Get a ridiculously loud TV! or surround sound!
ugh just about to get back into bioshock to re-do it.
Although I did buy streets of rage 2 on XBLA last night! SWEET

360 version has been fine for me, except it cant seem to auto load the last save I made. It always chooses an older one (maybe that is higher in the list of saves…)

If you plug the 360 out the time and date changes back to default on my console anyway, so all the saves are all over the place
