I went along to the workshop on Thursday. It was a great experience and it was fantastic to meet David. Even more so considering he remembered me from email exchanges over the past several years! Some of the things he spoke on were the different roles in game development, the future of the industry and how to get a job in different areas. Pretty much the fundamentals. He also told us how he felt the Irish industry is doing. As we already know, we’re getting there but have a long way to go!
The design challenge was enjoyable and I got to give my team’s presentation. That was fun! David seemed to enjoy himself and hopefully we’ll see back again sometime. It was also good to talk to Wendy Gibbons again as well as Kyle (Gizmo DX) and the other students.
Queen’s brought him over to promote its new masters degree in game development launching next year. I’ll keep my eye on that.
