InactiveSo, I caught a wee look at ‘When Games Attack’ last night, and I really don’t know what to think of it. On the one hand its is rather Adult, and witty. But, on the other it is everything Mr Diamond said was rubbish about ‘Games shows’ in the first place, at least going by what he said in his recent Edge interview. I fail to see though how in reality, When Games Attacks is a games show?, I mean it is more an excuse to make stupid puns related to videogames and show off Diamonds uncanny wit than it is an attempt to genuinly elevate games to a more public view. I dunno, anyway has anyone esle hand a chance to sponsor a gander?, and what are your thoughts?

InactiveYes i cetainly agree that Diamonds sense of humour is slightly childish and just plain unfunny. It appears to be aimed at the mainstream market just like gamesville etc. I also read the interview in edge and thought that we might actually get a show worth watching and when i first saw it on tv, the first thing that went through my mind was how much Diamond had contradicted himself. It really bugged me as from what i gathered from the interview, i was expecting a proper games show.
My ideal games show would be one were they cut out all the silly puns and humour, focused on GAMES that havent been released for 5 months already, industry news, developer profiles (a trip around a games studio talking to the magicians behind the magic for once) and basically to just inform and educate us all on the happenings in the industry today.
Current games shows are built towards the mainstream market and they arent (not suprisingly) getting slated by the media. Im pretty sure we’ll be waiting a while for a true games show. I believe the media have a great influence on how the shows are put together and if the media’s views towards the games industry doesnt change, then we will be a while waiting for a proper show.

InactiveAh yes, exactly. I find it rather insulting that as you said Paul a man can claim to be delievering God’s gift a simply turn up at the door with last weeks Pizza. ‘When Games Attack’ is in my mind one of the lesser shows of the moment, I enjoy Gamepad considerably more and Dare I say it, atleast Gamesville is somewhat enteratining if you wish to watch some mainstream television. But yes, I agree that the media has a huge influence on the production and eventual outcome of a games show. Such a show as what you wish for Paul, albiet one which isn’t plauged with intellectually insulting humour is a long way off, especially if a man like Diamond can seep into Edge and blatantly mock every other games show on T.V only to turn around himself and co-produce something as dire as ‘When Games Attacak. Oh well, maybe we should entertain ourselves with some sort of homebrew channel. Then again maybe not. :P

InactiveI tend to agree with Ronny, he does come across as a bit of a muppet.

InactiveAnd all the people on Gamesville aren’t muppets??????
Any show on games I’ve seen has been geared towards kids and as such the presenters have been muppets.
Maybe apart from that one thats on ITV late at night presented by Aleks Krotoski I think it was.
