InactiveInteresting. The reshaping of the industry continues. I wonder just how long it will be until every game is being published by either EA, Microsoft, Sony and Sega. After all we live in an age where companies such as Acclaim and Square cannot stay afloat without having to merge with another industry giant, such as the latter did with Enix.

InactiveYes it was fairly short but it was the highlight of last year on PS2 for me anyway(aside for Broken sword 3). Now that i think of it, last year was fairly bad one of PS2 games…
But this year we have Gran Turismo 4 and Metal Gear Solid 3 to look forward to…..
Cant wait to play GT4 with the new Steering Wheel, should keep me up a few nights

Must you complicate everything!? ;)My point is that there’s a good chance we could be facing a future where there’s few publishers controlling the industry. Their power over developers could get even worse as a result.
Other the other hand, however. It is very possible for the industry to stabilise and there could be room for both publishing giants and small independent publishers.
Either could happen so as I said, I’m very interested in seeing how things shape up.

InactiveYu Suzuki said in a interview a few months ago that shenmue 3 is on hold for now (maybe forever  )
publishers like to keep the star develpers happy, but not at that price
btw i know that there is a shenmue online coming, but that was not originaly Yu Suzuki idea. a company that sega pick to make a online game, asked to do shemue online Yu Suzuki agreedWe want BG&E 2 – especially since the ending in teh first game was so good![/quote:85c217add6]
gameplay wise it was a good ending but plot wise i felt a bit cheated.
best ending that comes to mind is shenmue 2 , the whole last disk is the ending of that chapter!

InactiveBest game ending I ever had was probably Metal Gear Solid. They had kept the whole cinematic thing going through the game and the ending was no exception with a great climax and a “not sure what’s going to happen next” feeling. It was also at the ending (credits) that I found out that some of the music to the game had been composed in our very own Temple Bar in Dublin!
As for the Sega Sammy merger, well being a Sega Sonic fan, I have to say that I havn’t been going too crazy over their recent releases, then again I havn’t been too involved with recent video game releases period, but hopefully the merger will give Sega something back that can help the get back to form in creating great games.
Incidentally, possibly because of the Sammy influence, Sega has put up some of their own franchises for liscencing by Western developers such as Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage and the most notable inclusion, NiGHTS! http://spong.com/detail/news.asp?prid=7708
