      Hi
Just wondering if any of you are attending Game Connection in Lyon next week.
Also have any of you attended before and have any advice for first timers ?[/quote:8cc77e67b2]howdy,

Only attended Game Connection once, but my advice would be:
      (1) space your meetings out as much as you can; you take in and give out a hell of a lot in those three days – they’re exhausting
      (2) time your prez to 20 mins or less – many of the people you’re meeting will arrive late from their last meeting
      (3) have some juice/water available for your guests; they’ll thank you for it
      (4) don’t rely on sound in your prez – the place is so loud with everyone else’s presentations it’s very hard to hear
      (5) start off by exchanging cards, rather than at the end – sometimes they have to run off to next meeting or take a call, and you want to make sure you have their details to follow-up
      (6) go to the dinners/lunches as well as the main event at Lyon – you never know who you will end up sitting beside and what might come of it
      (7) these people have seen and heard it all before – be able to back up any claims you make
(8.) be realistic about what you promise
      (9) hire the largest LCD screens you can to show your demo – worth it’s weight in gold
      (10) have something professionally printed to leave them with
(11)your best meetings will be before lunch – meetings late in the day are much less productive as some of these guys will have been to 30 meetings in 3 days! Needless to say meetings in the afternoon of the last day are a no no
      (12) have your strongest person make the pitch – ALL of them
(13)… and have another person play through the demo while you talk
      (14) you’ll want no more than 2 people of your team in the room (assuming the rooms are as small as they were when I was there)
      (15) have a back-up of your back-up
      (16) ideally you want to have a CD/DVD of your demo for them to take away – most of them seem to expect it, and you never know when someone in the publisher’s office will see it and call you back (one memorable week after Lyon saw THQ and Eidos get in touch!)

      Best of luck with it

Meant to say Bernard/Sean (can never remember who is Malward and who is beans_w!), if there’s any query (specifically) that I can help with, feel free to PM me

      Tony
