Hi there folks,
If you know any teenagers ( and older ) interested in learning about game design and basic 3D modelling, here’s info on the week long game design course that I give every year.

All jokin’ aside Mal, I think this is great – I would have loved to be able to learn about this stuff in secondary school, it may even have kickstarted my career a few years earlier

I definitely think this type of thing is missing in general from Ireland – a short, cheap ( other than having a week off work ) course that young ‘uns ( and not so young ) can try to see if they like making small games. Especially if it gets two or three people taking the course ( and maybe from the same area ) to form a small group and work on something together.

Don’t worry, there’s no coding programming involved – I think the course organisers put that note there to let people know that it’s not playing games for a week.
There is a system known as logic bricks, which is like visual programming. but it’s very easy ( and very artist friendly ) when you learn the basics.

Let me know if you do find anything, prtofdacrowd. I’m just outside Belfast, and am a bit gutted I missed the Blender course too.
Did an intro to Unity 3D in the New Year there at Digital Arts Centre. It was very basic, but still managed to enthuse me. Need to be able to create my own assets though, even if only as a stopgap before finding an artist.
Have you tried keeping an eye on http://digitalcircle.org/ too? It’s for NI based digital stuff. They sometimes have postings of game related events and courses.
