InactiveMarty O’donnell’s Score, one of the best in game music composers of this generation, marty’s music radiates with epicness, I hope Halo 2 will feature more stellar music from this great man.

Although I don’t study Music(well I do a bit of Vegas and Soundforge, but thats hardly studying)I do appreciate it’s contribution to games and films in general, and while GTA arguably has the best current generation soundtrack, I still feel Halo’s originality shining through in it’s score.
On another note I was watching ‘Heat’ the other night, you know at the end when Pacino shoots De-niro, when their relationship is finally revealed for what it was, albiet they secretly respected one another… the Music there is phenomonal, now I’m not a fan of ‘dance’ or whatever but that end theme was so well apllied that I consider it one of the greatest movie scenes of all time, all due to the fact that the end had an excellent score, I don’t know who the artist is/was( I think it’s robert miles or pual oakenfield or something)put it was an excellent track…..opps looks like i’ve strayed from the point…..:p

My vote for this has to go to Platoon. The fly over in the chopper and they look down to see Elyas (sp?) being gunned down with Barbar’s “Adagio For Strings” playing. Amazing. Enough to bring a tear to your eye. -

You really think so? I mean it suits, the whole radio thing, and a lot of the sketchs are very funny……at first. But I didn’t like the actual music in GTA3. In Vice City there is so much choice and it got so much attenion for its soundtrack because it used real singles but is it really a great soundtrack? I sort of see it as a bastardisation of a custom soundtrack, they’ve used other people’s old music.
To me personally, Halo, The Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine all strike me as examples of current generation great soundtracks, specifically written to follow and suit the game.
The Halo soundtrack was stunning. There’s even an Easter Egg of some Marathon music in it.

Oh no I agree, but what I was saying was more along the idea that GTA has the best ‘soundtrack’ regarding choice and variety of music, it is a techincally good soundtrack aswell as a very good demonstration of how cultural anomolies can be implimented into a game world. Personally I think Halo is the best, as some of you have already said.
