This is some of the best CGI stuff I’ve seen in a while…

Came across this a few weeks ago, beautifully lit, textured and rendered, but the woman model has a very Poser-esque look off her and I can’t stand that.

I would have to disagree with Pete, I don’t think the models have a poser look to them at all. Poser models are easily noticeable by the joints(elbow especially) where you can see a seam like defect. Unless he downloaded one of the more lifelike 3rd party poser models or something.
Even if he did use poser he has made the model look exceptionally more lifelife and unique with his excellent facial animation, lightng and texturing, so more power too him.

Take a look at the close ups of the woman’s face and tell me she doesn’t look like a generic female Poser model. Apparently he used max to model and animate her, he’s done amazing things with his materials I really like the shaky cam tests.

The texture work is simply amazing.

On a side note, did anyone see the ads on Discovery for the new series “Virtual History”. Its basically where they create CG faces of historical figues and superimpose them onto the faces of actors to recreate moments in history, and from what I’ve seen in the advert the CG is incredible, very very high quality and almost photorealistic. The first episode is about the attempt to assassinate Hitler in WW2.

I’m really into history so I’m certainly looking forward to this. Not entirely sure when it starts though… knowing my luck I’ll find the times as the series draws to a close.
