Personally, I think Sega have screwed Sonic up for fans who have been there since 1991. In my opinion, Sega have abandoned their ‘1st generation’ fans in order to attract the kids, what I call the ‘2nd generation’ fans and pretty soon, they’ll go after the ‘3rd generation’ fans leaving the ‘2nd generation’ cheated like I do.
The biggest thing that annoys me about the new Sonic is the name change of Dr. Robotnik to Dr. Eggman… that really, really gets on my nerves so much so in fact, I’ve banned my nieces and nephews from ever saying that dispicable name around me. The name itself is so unimaginative because he’s fat (shaped like an EGG) and he’s a MAN – EGG-MAN – while Robotnik sounded like real thought was put into the name. Japan can keep Eggman, I want Robotnik!
There are so many things wrong with the new Sonic, I won’t bother to list them… so I am going to put a poll on this message; if there’s a majority in favor of changing the name back to Robotnik, I will start a petition to show Sega the opposition to Eggman and hopefully, it’ll lead to some kind of action. -

its the same as jif changing to cif
or marathon changing to snickers
having the one worldwide name for the same thing makes sence, and having that name be the one that most people around the world are familiar with is the logical thing to do

But before eggman/robotnik became his current self he was known as doctor kintobor who actually helped sonic (for the slow to react thats robotnik backwards (how imaginative))
Anyway, if he became eggman then the alter ego would be called Doctor namgge.
So start a new poll which is better namgge or kintobor? -
Its pointless to be bothered by this really.
Resident Evil is called Bio Hazard in Japan where it was made, even though Resident Evil is a better title.
Capcom also mucked around with the names of the boss characters in Street fighter. M.Bison is called Vega in Japan, Vega is called Balrog and Balrog is called M.bison (similar to Mike Tyson).
I’m sure there are hundreds more examples…
I don’t know, I reckon that there are bigger things to worry about and poll for in the Games world other than Character Names, even if it annoys you so much. Maybe a poll about what was crap about recent Sonic games and how to improve them would be a more productive use of you time. Sega might be more interested in hearing about that kind of thing.

actually i think your right, sonic only uses eggman to piss him off. but that did not happen in the west untill sonic adventure.
sonic 2 was my first 16bit game, and i love it to bits. i don’t think sega have destroyed the sonic name… some crap – ok titles but i still looking forward to the next gen sonic
