Preordered my *limited* edition Halo2 with its sexy metal case and bonus DVD. My first ever Xboxen preorder….I feel dirty. It will be interesting to listen to the commentary – I hope.
A mate from work was with me in the shop and we had a great idea – what if you could get the *REAL* commentary for a game – all the nitty gritty bitchy talk about the games development. This would be great for games with a troubled dev cycle (Galleon?) – some anonymous members of the dev team could record a commentary, disguise their voices and post it on the interwebby thing. Only danger would be that they keep talking about what they did on the game, so they would have to keep it vague (and make it funny).
Finally got my copy of Riddick but I noticed after I got home that it was not a new copy of the game – in my eagerness to get a copy I didnt notice that GAME fobbed me an already opened copy :(
Still, that doesn’t take away from the fact its a very sexy game. Why do the bad men have to curse so much though – its F this and F that :)
Bleh, random crap for a miserable bank holiday monday in work.

KyotoKid, bungie did run a commenatry on the making of Halo, from it’s early Mac conception through to PC and finally X-Box. It was bundled with an issue of X-Box world a couple of months back. It was quite a funny experience in my mind, a few of the coders and level designers bickering about who did what and who did it best, never the less it proved an enteraining peice of footage and is well worth watching if you can track it down.
As for Halo 2?, well 3 weeks, eh. I won’t be seen for months.Oh and Kyotokid have you noticed the dismal resolution that the ‘far’ screen textures run at in Riddick, 600 by 400, dire altogheter! ^^

Take a look: Halo Evolution
Not just from Mac to XBox but from Halo’s Real-time Strategy days through to the third person builds and acknowledging the faked E3 shows and stuff they had to drop due to Microsofts pressure.
It makes for very interesting viewing.

I finished Riddick on Normal (The is easy, normal, hard).
I started on Sunday and Finished on Monday. Hmmm Great. I am not even that good a games player. Oh well money grows on trees…Maybe I will return it…
Yeah I did notice some trickery going on with LOD’s on the character models – overall though I thought the environments where sexy – the PC version should look Uber good
