      Seems its not strictly illegal either once the GPL is complied with

      Yeah it’s perfectly legal to resell under the GPL. The catch is however that they MUST provide the source code, either on their website, in the distribution or through a written offer. Doesn’t matter if they so much as changed just one line in it- they have to provide it.

      Site seems to be down though at the minute: ‘403 forbidden’ i’m getting. I wonder are they in trouble over this? :)

      Not so much trouble but some form of busted anyway. This post explains what happened.

      While that side did look a bit of a scam, it was legal ( I think someone mentioned somewhere that he did have a link hidden somewhere that mentioned that the source could would be available if contacted – which is all you have to do to be LGPL compliant in this case )

      At some stage I think you’ll see more competing products like this using the same source code ( eg Blender customised for beginners, or for a certain software package, that people may charge for – similar to Linux Distros ).
