InactiveHi,
I’ve just returned to Belfast and I’m looking to set up a small game studio specializing in making iPhone games.
I’m a programmer who has previously worked in both the games industry (2 published games for Namco and EA) and the mobile phone industry.
I plan to use a commercial engine that will reduce the risk and basically allow me to do the gameplay scripting side of things and level building, if I need to I can write a plugin however I don’t suspect I will do after evaluating the engine.
I plan to sell this game on iTunes and given the reasonable terms offered by Apple I also hope to make a nice profit by aiming at the impulse buy market. I see this as a job and not a hobby however at the moment I’m still looking for investment so I wouldn’t be able to pay a salary yet however hopefully that will change and I’m sure we can work something out with respect to royalties.
What I require is an artist with 3D modeling experience, low-poly modeling would be best as the iPhone is limited in power.
If you would like to contact me, my email is:
john.aaron.owens@gmail.com.Cheers,
John. -

InactiveHi John,
Welcome to the gd.ie boards!
I’m sure you have your own ideas for the engine, but here are two bits of interesting info that I’ve seen regarding the iPhone recently…
Unity3D support for iPhone ( a complete IDE for game dev ).
http://www.unity3d.com ( link is on their main page )
Also, if you’re using a lower level library, the open-source Bullet physics has just been ported to the iPhone…
We’re based in Belfast also ( down in the Titanic Quarter ), so if you ever want to pop in for a quick chat just drop me a line…

InactiveHi John,
Welcome.Sounds interesting, was planning on doing some iPhone games myself but have to get organised with a new mac first (Eyeing the mac book pros) and have a few projects on in the way too.
Keep us informed anyway.
Kind Regards

InactiveIt will be intresting to see where the likes of I-Phone games go. I have a really cool idea for Wii Ware that I would love to do, but dont have a clue how to program.
Hurts my brain.
