InactiveAlright, so we’ve heard about nothing but Halo and Half-Life for the last 2 weeks, have people gone out and got Metroid Prime 2 yet?
I picked it up on Friday and I have to say I’m very pleased with it so far. Graphically, I don’t think there is much of a leap from the original, just a few nice touches here and there but nothing major. But seeing as the original was so nice, I’ve no problems with that.
I’m only about 20% through yet but the weaponry change definitally makes you think a lot more with the light and dark beams requiring ammo so you can’t just go running around blasting everything anymore with these beams.
Control system has stayed exactly the same too, just shows how well it works. The scan functionality has been improved so getting that elusive 100% might be a little easier.
The game environment is great. Going into Dark Aether at first is really quite scary, running from light to light, trying to survive. I’d have preferred if you had t osurvive like this a bit longer and got the dark suit a bit later in the game, but I’ve still to see what else they’ve to throw at me.
Must go get back to it…. -

InactiveYou need Ammo for regular weponary now!?, oh dear. Other than that it sounds great, I played the first one albiet the first Cube iteration for ages. So I looking forward to picking up this one somethime this week, along with Metal Slug 3 and Tales of Symphonia. Tell me Omen, you say that the ‘scaning’ feature has been improved, how?. In Metroid Prime I turned off the ‘Hint’ system. Perhaps this is why it took me 30 Hours to finish it. But anyway can’t wait to get it this week. Oh and if you like prime and prime 2 Omen you should really check out Fusion and Zero mission on the GBA, only 5-7 hrs of gameplay in each but every minute is a joy.

InactiveNormal beam has unlimited ammo. Light and dark beams have limited ammo. 4th beam I haven’t got yet, so don’t know.
Ammo is good, you have to think about things more. Killing with the dark beam will gain you light ammo, and vice versa. I think it works well. You can’t just go mad with your light beam on a dark boss, because you don’t have much so you have to make sure you hit with it.
Scanning is no longer just a little orange rectangle to you have to find. If something is scannable now, the whole object is highlighted so its easier to find scannable objects.
Played through my girldfriend’s copy of Fusion last year, am thinking of picking up Zero Mission when I get the chance but I’ve just had an expensive month, so it can wait a while… -
