Hey folks I am writing up my dissertation which is a means to set realistic limits on rotational joints for articulated characters.

I want to be sure I am correctly discussing the tools available in this area and need help from animators who truly know the feature set of their chosen 3D package in the area of character animation and IK.

As far as I can see Max, XSI, Maya and Blender just let you set limits on each Euler angle as seen in screen shots. Is anyone aware of any other means in these or other commercially available packages and if so can you post up a link or screen shot. Would really appreciate it.

If you can get a look at some recent copies of Develop you’ll see the Autodesk single page ads with the rig in it. I’ve checked the Assassin’s Creed art book but theres nothing that technical in it. Also try the Zbrush forums

Thanks Pete. It’s not in the latest develop pdf but I think I saw some older mags in the Lab so will check those out. No luck on forums but found lots of nice detail on normal maps in Assassin’s Creed.
