Hi, just wondering if anyone could offer some advice. I have no idea what the job scene is like in Ireland, well Dublin, for 3D work. Is there much work available? Since my 3D skills are a little rusty right now, I’m more interested in doing textures/illustrations at the moment. I have done commercial work before on textures, and it worked out well. I like to think I’m fairly decent. Check my site for some examples…

Yes, it’s slightly out of date. Lol.

      Here’s some more…..

Yep. Some god awful stuff in there too. Well they are old, technology changes, and I was only starting out. I got better as time went on.

So, can anyone give me any advice?……

      It would much appreciated. Thanks.

Upstart games might be a good start.

There great, think I saw a few of them before when browsing the net. I remember seeing the Tusken Raiders before, very cool. Sorry I can’t help you with your question though i’m sure some one will know.

Theres a lot of work in kitchen design (!) of all things, all the more if you have a qualification in CAD. There is also a bit of arch vis at the moment. There are a lot of broadcast animation companies round Dublin, if you could get in with any of them you’d prolly get a few months work at a time, possibly leading to something more permanent, if thats what you’re looking for. Keep an eye on the jobdesk at http://www.creativeireland.com and of course here at GD

MMmm, so things still kinda grim then? Lol. Oh well, thanks for the advice. I’m going to keep an eye out anyway, I’m sure something suitable will turn up. Cheers everyone. :)

Have a look at the mobile development studios like Nephin and Upstart. You can find their websites through the ‘Companies’ section.

Quite a few people here have moved to the UK to find work. That’s definitely an option you should look into. Hopefully there will be a lot more going on in Ireland over the next few years. If you move back at a later time then you’ll have a lot of experience to help you into a job.

      Good luck.
