hi folks,
just wondered when we were going to sort out the next Shindig and where it was going to be…
I’d be in favour of Toner’s again myself. As Aphra pointed out, the fewer tables and more open space encourage you to mingle, etc. whereas that was difficult to do in Mahaffey’s
So in the interests of kick-starting discussion, how about Friday of the 21st or 28th May?
There is an IGDA event on may 5th and we’ll probably all end up in the pub afterwards anyway, but there may be some who’d prefer the Shindig-type format…

Well, I’ve never been to a shindig before (a gd.ie one I mean, obviously I’ve been to other shindigs, I am a student after all) and am looking forward to it mightily. One thing, where abouts is ‘Toners’, I know Mahaffeys well as I’m in Trinity, anywhere near it?

go to top of grafton st (so that stephens green entrance is on your right),
hang a left along north stephens green,
keep going straight it becomes merrion row
keep going straight it becomes lower baggot street.
Toners is on the right at start(ish) of baggot st.its just under 10 mins walk from top of grafton st.

Aphra had a map up on the news section a while back for the last shindig. She also included a paragraph on how to find your way to the bar, I can’t find it now though. Maybe she or someone else still has it saved…

I guess I should say I’ll be able to make that May shindig and can reserve some tables in advance.
If you are looking for previous directions to shingigs you can go to the resources section on the top navigation bar, click on calendar and use the search facility.
Or I can do it for you! Here is a cut and paste re Toners…
Location: From Stephen’s Green North walk past the Shelbourne Hotel and towards Merrion Row/Baggot Street. Keep walking straight with Upper Merrion Street on your left and Ely Place on your right. Toners is a wine & black pub and will be on your right on a corner. If you reach Pembroke Street on your right you have passed it and gone too far.
The shindig will be downstairs. To get there you can walk through the pub to the back where there is a stairs or walk around the side outside where there is another door. I will put up signs so you know where you are going..

thanks to all who came out on Friday night. There was a great turnout and we had the entire downstairs to ourselves so there was no problem finding us!
