I read an article on silicon republic about 3,600 teachers in Ireland have jumped onto http://www.prometheanplanet.com/ for use in the classroom.

Out of interest, is anyone on the forums using this (or comparable VLE?) Maybe its the marketing hype at work, but 3600 is a fair amount of teachers, right?

I think their concept of a "planet" is pretty much a subsite, with a lot of "flipcharts" (powerpoint presentations maybe?) being put into a shared pool.

I have nothing against the site or the concept but I’m cynical about how engaged 3,600 teachers are. Most teachers I know, like the guards I know still type with pokes of their outstretched index finders. So I would imagine there are only a few content creators and the rest are just looking to download a powerpoint so they don’t have to make one.
