Sony has announced via, GC, that there is in fact a hardware revision for the PSP, "3000", hitting the shelves soon.

      http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2008/08/sony_makes_psp3000_official-2.html

Slightly "smoother" in physical appearance, built in mic, and a better screen.

Apparently they’ve simultaneously announced that PSP users will get free WiFi via a provider, FON.

Usual question, how long until we the PSP can take a sim card???

      *EDIT*
But maybe I’m looking at it the wrong way, maybe sony don’t want to deal with the carriers and their "issues", maybe they plan on circumventing them, and empowering their users with Skype and strategic WiFi based partnerships. Or maybe I’m being too optimistic…

      B.

I bought a slim, and I am slightly peeved. Unless they have come up with some new anti-custom firmware thingy :) I wouldn’t mind a nicer screen and a 4GB card.

Oh and Thane, I hear Nintendo are actually redesigning the DS once again (thinning it up by removing GBA slots, bigger screens, etc.)

Yeah but you can do so much with it if you don’t stick to just the official firmware. I’ve been playing counterstrike recently.
