Hi all it’s been a while,
Just keeping you up to scratch on what I’m working on…

My inspiration for this image was to create an illustration based on well known aphorisms. Most people know the one i chose as “Red sky in the morning sailors warning.” I changed that slightly to “Red sky in the morning soldiers warning.”

The back story; A king asks for a powerful warlock to help him defeat a neighbouring empire. The warlock agrees to help him in return for his daugher’s hand in marrage. After the war the king was so frightened after witnessing the power of the warlock. Fearing for his own kingdom and perhaps never intending the warlock to wed his daughter. So the King sent three assassins to kill the warlock.
They failed! And now… the warlock is coming to kill the king for his betrayal. He needed to trap the soul of a bear to become the engine for his creation, in order to bring his Keep to life. The fur and claws are left overs from the bears mortality. When a spell is cast by Warlocks and other mortals that dabble in magic they work on instinct. They never fully know exactly how their creation will appear. Once the fundamentals function how they want… the spell is considered a success! Many a warlock have died from their own spell casting.

Created using Photoshop CS2 in 4.5 hours.

Wicked! I particularily like the use of light and the cartoonish style shading you’ve applied there. Nice background concept also..
