      Hello there !

I just wanted to get some advice on a summer project. Myself and a number of undergrad programming students, along with some sound guys were going to make a game over the summer. The issue is that we lack art assets. Anyone know any good online places for some simple free 2d art assets? Also, if any art students are interested in getting involved, you are more than welcome too ! Just something we are doing for the craic and be good on a CV :)

Thanks for any info you can give.

      Hey, welcome to Gamedevelopers.ie!

The best website I have found so far is:
      http://opengameart.org/

You can be lucky or unlucky with the assets posted there, there are some fairly bad ones mixed in with some amazing ones. They’re all free to download, but keep in mind that "share alike" licences will mean that you’ll have to release your game as open source.

Have a look at user: Clint Bellanger’s stuff in particular; really good, especially his tilesets.

      Hope this helps,
      -Oisin
