If anyone is doing web development locally, this toolkit is invaluable ( and free! )
It’s XAMPP, and combines a totally set-up off-line server ( Apache ), with all of the pre-installed frills ( MySQL server, PHP etc ).
I use XAMPP Lite, which contains a core common set of extensions, and which you just place in a folder and run – no install etc.

It makes it easier to test web based loading etc, without having to copy your files online all of the time ( which can take a while to upload etc ).
