      Hi all,

I’ve read so many articles about Nintendo in general being too difficult to work with, too slow in the approval process, drag their heels dispatching dev kits to developers, etc.

I’ve read countless blogs of "industry watchers" crying themselves to sleep about the fact that Nintendo’s first party titles are too strong, and too tough to go up against.

The latest in this series can be read here:

Now, I guess in the U.S. the "Madden" series is a religion unto itself, and if the whole world and every platform does not combust at the mere sound of a madden game being released, then something is wrong.

So, apparently, Madden didn’t sell well on the Wii. and this has of course led to more cries about Nintendo platforms being inhospitable.

So what would be the preferred outcome? Nintendo stop making 1st party titles? Or reduce the quality of their 1st party titles, to give the 3rd party guys a go?

Maybe I’ve got the blinkers on, but for me, it sounds like a whole load of (yet again) sour grapes. If the Madden game was great, well then it would sell. Or maybe their marketing/comms director needs the heave-ho, or maybe, just maybe, the people who play Wii games, who like Wii fit, and Mario Wii Kart would rather play Wii Yoga or whatever than American football.

But of course, that can’t be it, right. No-no, everyone loves Madden, there’s got to be another reason.

      B.

Heh heh, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the Wii appeal to a slightly different audience than the PS2 and XBOX?

The comments for that article are quite amusing, a lot agreeing that Madden sales sucked cause the game sucked.

Personally I think 3rd party games on the Wii are very lackluster. I’ve found camera and control systems difficult or the game just plain dull. Very little on the Wii which interests me, which is very disappointing cause it has a lot of potential.

Yes! Lets force Nintendo to release a greater number of sub par games so that others who release sub par games have a chance :)
