Myself (Ray Quinn) and KyranOHyran (Kieran Murray) are currently working on a winnitron for Ireland. The Winnitron is a free to play indie game arcade machine aimed to help promote and develop the indie community within a city.
Originally started by the Bitcollective in Winnipeg Canada, its now become a growing network around the world. We have completed the first stage of making the Irish winnitron, follow its progress at
Any suggestions of suitable a location are welcome, it must always be in a public place. Suggestions so far have been the twisted pepper, thomas house, dice bar, bernard shaw, grand social, murrays bar.
The Science Gallery are considering hosting its launch and keeping it on display for a couple of weeks.
Terry Cavanagh has agreed to make a game for its launch and anyone else who is interested in making a game too is welcome, here is the specifications that need to be followed.

when are you thinking of launching it??
It could do a bit of a ‘crawl’ [pubs & maybe colleges with games/animation/media courses] but I would think the Science Gallery would be good as a permanent home.

Were working to have it complete as soon as possible , realistically were aiming for end of july / start of august for the launch.
Yeah i think a crawl is good idea for it, we are former students of ballyfermot and would like to see it there for a time for sure, and Dit aswell.
We are in contact with the Science Gallery at the minute so we are going to see about a permanent home for it there.

You can take it that you have a slot during Games Fleadh 2012 too.

Hey, we got some updates on the Blog,
We got our iPac wired up, so the control panel is now fully functional. Open Emotions have sent us an early build of Youths of Rage, which looks great, as well as this we are having a jam in 4 weeks time to create some games for the Winnitron, so this has now give us a good solid deadline to get it finished.

Unfortunetly we have to make a regretful announcement, which is to say that although great progress has been made on the Winnitron IRL it will not be of a sufficiently finished standard in time to attend the game jam. However it will be completed asap and making games for it is the most important part and the jam will no doubt produce potential work that will play great on the soon-to-be finished Winnitron. Apologies to all from Myself and Kieran, see you at the jam!!.

I was part of the Sham Jam last year. Will the games from the Jam still be in the Winnitron?

Yeah the Sham Jam games are still going to be on it
