Not the easiest way of doing it but if you’re stuck, and have access to 3dsmax, you could export to FBX (use the latest plugins and choose the ‘Autodesk Media and Entertainment’ profile) import into max and then use this X exporter for Max, supposed to be pretty good:
Yes, thought about that, and it looks like that’s what I will have to end up doing.
The panda exporter for Max is awesome. Never had any trouble with it, ever. Pity there does not seem to be an equivalent for Maya (yet). Although, I started looking at MEL and Python last night, so watch this space….
(But yes, if anyone knows where I can find a simple, working Maya -> .X file exporter (apart from cvXporter), I am still very much interested.
