by the way can folks add an affiliation when they are e-mailing the events address? Handy for us to know the balance between industry, students and others and we can draw up a list of attendees. Some new names are cropping up which is great..

I presume you have made a formal submission of your concerns to the course moderator. If not I recommend you do so.
Also I know the course content was approved by a mix of internal, external and industry folk so unless the course content has changed I presume the core modules are those originally approved.

well the birthday one is a bit different as companies make presentations about their work and it is somewhat less drink focussed…at least at the beginning!

By the way some of the staff here were thinking of bringing in their kids. What is the story with under 16s and are there many games suitable for them?

Called into the Digital Exchange yest. to take a look at the room for the gd.ie birthday..it is rather posh with a podium, two screens, roving and other mikes etc..they are going to leave us the couches as well as chairs so it should be a nice space to hang out in for the evening..

yes you are right, it is the fourth birthday event, but we are strictly three years old –
although the project started a year before the launch so if we want to get really technical!!

We also have a sticky introductions thread in general if you want to do a proper introduction!
I would suggest you focus on current skills that you can offer for your skills profile. If you have no experience in game design you might want to put yourself into marketing and sales but the art, design category would also cover some of your skills.
If you want to get into game design you might want to join a mod team or depending on your age maybe even a Dare to be Digital team this or next year. Come along to one of the shindigs, next one is the birthday shindig on the 28th of April in Dublin, and meet some folks who are in the business or trying to get in.

I would like to have the voting finished by Monday the 24th of April if possible..
once you start thinking about it you realise that some people who have made a really big contribution to the boards have yet to get an award as well as the need to recognise institutions, groups and organisations outside gd.ie who are making an important contribution…for one thing..the Digital Hub organised a month of game related events last year..for another some of the first degree courses were established which is no mean feat if you have ever tried to get a new course validated…the redesign and reprogramming of gd.ie was all done by volunteers, I could go on and on but I might bias the voting :)
