Ah’m a-just admirin’ this here mighty comfy but worn sofa, this grimy exercise set, this finely tuned wood grain, this veg-e-tation – growing so lush an’ atmospheric agin’ this here house. Was it nature thet placed it here, just so, d’yeh think? Or was it that Brady feller?
Come to DUUG #21 for a double-barrel of explosive ART talks from talented and experienced 3D artist James Brady!
This DUUG is happening on Weds the 28th of November from 6.15-22.00pm!
This month we plant ourselves in the Talent Garden Dublin, an innovative coworking, events and learning space in Glasnevin. The campus hosts 350 members, offering flexible workspaces, digital skills training and hundreds of events every year. With 23 campuses across 8 countries, Talent Garden also provides its members with access to a unique international network of tech professionals. Thanks Talent Garden!
To get to TG by public transport, take the 83 Bus from Dublin Centre to the stop on Old Finglas Road near MET Eireann, then follow this map: (goo.gl/maps/oCzA9f5sbvK2). Website here: (dublin.talentgarden.org)
James Brady is a 3D artist with 4 years experience working on AAA games and large indie projects. James has worked at Rockstar Games on the latest release Red Dead Redemption 2, along with the wildly popular multiplayer game Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. James has also made art for Hitman 2, Halo, Firewall Zero Hour, The Forest, NotMyCar, Insurgency Sandstorm, the sequel to New World Interactive’s classic title ‘Insurgency’ and many more…!
He has been featured in magazines/publications online including the Irish gaming site GameDevelopers.ie…! Check out his website: bradyart.xyz
Over the two hours, James will talk about his ventures into the games industry and his experience working on some extremely popular games! Covering his career, some tips for artists/devs breaking into games and the curve-balls he’s encountered, James will give advice and maybe spark some inspiration for others trying to get their foot in the door!
After the talk, James will take a Q&A and review portfolio/projects, so feel free to bring your best work (or even your dog…!).
If you’re bringing a project to playtest/show at DUUG, we encourage you to consider adding a scoreboard to the project! There’s nothing like a little friendly competition to get people queuing up to take another crack at your game…! (And if you’d like some basic scoreboard code to get started, feel free to ask the DUUG organisers on the day!)
RSVP, ASAP! We’ll see you there!
