*What the workshops will cover*

The 2 day workshop series will cover the basics of:

* Blenders Interface.
* Box modelling.
* UV unwrapping.
* Rigging

It’s a lot of material to cover, so turn up well rested! We have an experienced 3D artist to guide us.

There will be homework between workshop days. This will help reinforce the new knowledge in your brain and get you used to thinking like a 3D modeller.

*Workshop Goals*

Our goal is to deliver a workshop that teaches you through practicing the skills you are learning. To teach you what you need to leave the workshop with enough skill, understanding and confidence to create 3D art assets by yourself and figure out how to solve issues by yourself with the aid of community resources and the internet.

Our approach puts practicality first. Your instructor will guide you through the processes of 3D modelling in Blender.

While you follow along, you are building up your ‘muscle memory’ of the skills. This approach will make 3D modeling become a more familiar, less daunting task.

*Requirements*

Please ensure you have the following at the workshop:

* A laptop/computer with its cables.
* A 3-button mouse (left-click, right-click and scroll-wheel)
* A copy of Blender installed. Download here: https://blender.org

You must be aged 18 or over to participate in this workshop.

All participants must agree to our Code of Conduct to participate in the workshop.

*About Your Instructor*

Your instructor is a 3D artist working in the games industry with years of experience using Blender to create 3D art assets for games.

*Next steps after the workshop*

So you’ve completed the workshops, what next? Time to test and reinforce your new skills by putting them into practice – making a game at a gamejam!

During March 2019, Mind Cauldron is organising a series of game development workshops which lead up to the next Galway Game Jam. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in game development but feels lost and doesn’t know where to start. Start here!

A gamejam is a game making event. You can take the skills you learn at these workshops to the gamejam, to apply them in a real life project with a team.

You will get a taste of what it’s like to make games. You will have made a small game, or a solid attempt to, by the end of the gamejam. A small game that you can learn a great deal from.

If you’d like to get in touch with me about this event, or the series of events planned, please drop me an email at info@mindcauldron.com.

* Please note this certificate is not accredited by any educational institution or education authority. However it may serve to demonstrate your learning commitments and accomplishments to employers or education institutions during an interview process, as well as to yourself.
