I’m From There

Two evenings with Scott Benson discussing narrative & creative design for video games.

A 2-part conversation about Scott’s time learning how to think about and make games and how experience, region, and history can inform game design in strange and surprising ways. How can we make games that tell the stories of where we’re from, and where we are now? What kinds of stories and games would those be? Who are they for? Why is it so important how the games themselves are made, and who makes them? Why are there cat-people and also regular cats in Night In The Woods? Join us for a discussion of these topics and more.

Scott Benson is a game developer, animator, and illustrator. He co-directed the 2017 game Night In The Woods and co-founded The Glory Society, a worker cooperative that makes games. Before that he co-founded the international indie animation collective Late Night Work Club. He is self taught. He lives in a small town in southwestern Pennsylvania with his wife/creative partner Bethany and two cats named Fern and Sid.
