Technologies have made incredible advancements in gaming in the last decade and gaming has grown into one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world. The gaming industry has completely evolved and a new era of gaming has been created which in turn has led to an impressive new generation of gamers. The number of gamers in constantly increasing therefore there is more demand for more immersive entertainment, and with gamers and creators looking for easier ways to access games, the future of the video game industry looks positive. Game creation and development have also become much more accessible for gaming enthusiasts and developers.  During this webinar we will be talking to a range of panellists who are involved in the gaming industry.

Overview of panellists/companies

ByoWave is developing a customisable and accessible video game controller allowing gamers to build their own way to play.

Brandon Blacoe is an Electronic Engineer with a passion for developing high-quality engineering solutions to worldwide problems. Brandon received his Masters in Electronic and Computer Engineering from UCD and was awarded Innovative Graduate of the Year from Engineers Ireland. Brandon has always had a love for gaming and is passionate about developing accessible devices to allow gamers to build their own ways to play.

Eibhlin O’Riordan is a Game Designer with her degree from TUDublin. Eibhlin has a disability that affects her ability to use video game controllers. This has sparked her passion to bridge the gap between the digital world and co-founded ByoWave with Brandon in 2020 and they began developing modular and accessible video game controllers for disabled gamers.

Paperless Games  create and host virtual games for friends, families & for corporate events. “Gather your team today wherever they may be across the world and try out one of our fantastic yet challenging games…”

Vithush Suthakaran is a Solutions Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the computer software industry. Skilled in VMware solutions, Cloud, Containers, Kubernetes and Software as a Service (SaaS). Strong engineering professional with a Computing and IT with Networking focused in Information Technology from The Open University.

MiContact is an educational app created by a teen on the autism spectrum. It was developed for use as a discrete social prompt to help individuals with autism make and maintain eye contact more comfortably and thus better engage with the world around them. MiContact was designed so that people with ASD can practice making and maintaining eye contact in a discrete manner during times they chose in places that suit them.

Ciara-Beth Griffin is the Founder and Creator of MiContact, an app to help people who are on the Autism Spectrum learn to make and maintain eye contact more comfortably. Skilled in Conflict Resolution, Leadership, Project Planning, Project Management, and Public Speaking.

Romero Games is an independent video game development studio that was established on 2015 by husband-and-wife team John Romero and Brenda Romero, and are based in Galway. They have released three games to date on the international market.

Keith O’Conor is CTO and Technical Director of Romero Games in Galway, and an engine and graphics coder at heart. Prior to moving home to Ireland he lived and worked in Canada, most recently as a Technical Lead on multiple AAA titles at Ubisoft Montreal, including Far Cry 5, Far Cry: Primal, and Watch_Dogs. He started in the industry at Radical Entertainment in Vancouver as a graphics programmer on the Prototype series, and holds a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin.
