I was thinking…what new hardware are people most excited about seeing ?
Is it the the newer arrivals or the handheld systems, Sony PSP and Nintendo DS or the future next gen consoles?I’m kinda leaning towards the next gen consoles as I’ve never really being a hand-held gamer, although the new systems have spiked my interest. Looking forward to Xmas to see how things go with the Japan release. From GI.biz I see that the DS already has 120 games in production with 20 of these being developed by Nintendo themselves. Don’t know any figures for the PSP.
And thinking about the hand-held, will Ireland continue the Sony trend and continue to ignore Nintendo ?
As for the consoles….who knows which will be the console of choice next time round….xbox2 making the first appearance, ps3 being the one with the past record to sell and n5-revolution having a lot of mystery. I just hope that Sony face stiffer competition and marketing to make it a better market for the future…..
Anyways, enough rambling, time for bed…

I’m extremely interested in the DS and PSP and my enthusiasm for consoles generally will have me hyped for the next generation of home devices, particularily ps2’S CELL technology (could it be as GROUNDBREAKING as the emotion engine ;)) and what will Nintendo and Microsoft do next.
But to be fair I’m not all that bothered at the minute, all that really excites me right now is the future output for XBox Live which has easily been the greatest success of this generation in my opinion. I don’t even use my beloved GameCube at the moment :eek:

I hope thats sarcasm there Paddy boy, and as for X-Box Live, I have to say I agree with you on that one, it is one of the better innovations of the current generation, it’s just a shame I don’t have broadband……..*sigh*

I am not excited about any of the next gen systems – I have yet to even get an Xbox and play the games on it.
I am very interested in Nintendo DS…but seeing anouncements like ‘Atlus announce 5 DS games’ and they seem to be N64 games peeves me off a bit.
Nintendo Revolution, PS3 – not yet thanks!

As a gamer, I think it’ll be really interesting to see what happens on the DS, as it’s possibly the most interesting/unusual.
I definitely think its possible that it’ll be rubbish, but I really want to see what happens either way.Seems both sony and nintendo are taking big risks with the next gen handhelds. Will nintendo pull the dual screen concept off?
Will people pay the (possibly large) asking price for a PSP (especially if you cant write your own UMD)?As a coder, I think the xbox 2 will be very interesting.
I am looking forward to seeing how game developers put a 3 way machine to use, how they cope with/exploit the multiprocessor achitecture, how this affects the internal structure of games, and finally whether it affects the sort or gameplay that is possible in next generation titles.
