New shindig, new thread. Out of a blatant sense of self availability, I would start the ball rolling by suggesting the 19th November.

Any chance it could be the weekend before the 12th? because im actually going to be in dublin with a couple of my buddies from college that weekend. one of them started a masters in trinity so were all going up to christen the house\the city..
so would be cool if it was that weekend coz ill definately make that shindig, but if its the weekend after ill try to make it up again.peter

This one was possibly going to be in galway? And do you mean the 5th, or the weekend before the 19th, which is the 12th :)
-
22/10/2004 at 8:47 am #15273AnonymousInactive
sorry i meant the weekend of the 12th.
but if its in galway on the 19th no problem. another old ex-house of mine lives up there so ill crash with her. so all good. -

12th in Dublin good. 12th in Galway bad. 19th in Galway good.
-
22/10/2004 at 2:37 pm #15290AnonymousInactive
Anytime up to 18th Nov good for me, or after 3rd Dec. Happy to help with Galway organising too, if there be a need…
:)

also i should lay cork down as a possible shindig location after galway.. some great pubs down here and lots of clubs etc.. good night out indeed.

either date in either Dublin or Galway suits me
-

Hi All,
Looks like the weekend of the 12th suits the local crew for a Galway Shindig. Would it be sensible to suggest the Saturday (13th) rather than the Friday considering travel to Galway presumably after work on Friday may not be as frequent as it might be to Dublin?

I am going to be hibernating in my new home in November..since I haven’t managed to spend a weekend there yet!
I would say we will have a Christmas shindig in Dec. in Dublin if we can manage to find a date when there is not too many Christmas parties..the green machine will be travelling from the North and accepting well behaved and polite passengers for that one!!

Dave

well it is probably needed…a distinct lack of warmth up this part of the world..my boxes only arrived yesterday so once the book is shipped off (end of month hopefully) I’ll look at doing something..anyway..I believe other people moved before I did and they haven’t had a house warming…not mentioning names but Idora??

Everything was so simple before Galway decided it wanted a piece of the pie! Anyone a little more certain of a date that will suit them this month in either of the towns? :)

Hi All,
The invitation to Galway still stands, one of the guys is trying to organise somewhere for this weekend (12th or 13th).
That said, if the interest is not there for a trip to Galway and Dublin would suit better, by all means revert to meeting in Dublin.
I will post again as soon as I know more.

Seven hours to Galway from Belfast! Think I’ll have to put my vote towards Dublin for the next one. ;)
How about the 19th in Dublin?
I’m sure nothing would stop Galway locals having their own shindig around then too. Certainly seems to be enough support for it.
-
08/11/2004 at 5:44 pm #15534AnonymousInactive
I’d fookin’ love to head to Galway for it but I’ve just moved house and can’t really afford the trip at the mo, Seems to be interest in both places so I’ll see some of you in Dublin on the 19th
-
08/11/2004 at 6:53 pm #15535AnonymousInactive
for who that are interested in coming to galway, please let us know here

so it is looking like Galway this weekend and Dublin the following one..sounds good to me, even if I won’t make the Galway one and Dublin is a 50:50 shot at present…
someone in Dublin might want to check Toners is available for weekend after this – can anyone do this?

The launch & party of Camelot Galway – City of The Tribes adventure tour is on the 26th of November. It will be a show to remember as with many guest speakers regarding the games industry in Ireland & World-wide with protenial networking regarding with other game & film related companies in Ireland.
Afterwards there is a party held. Free food & drinks on offer in the show + entertainment shows. More news soon.
The video presentation of the adventure will be released early next week. watch this space. It could turn out to be another Galway shindig this month!

Might it just be better to save the galway shindig for the 26th then? Unlikely to see people travelling twice in the space of 2 weeks…

26th is ok for me in Galway.

From NI Translink: “BELFAST – LONDONDERRY – GALWAY”
I just had a look at an Irish map. What possible reason is there for heading so far up north from Belfast then to go all the way back down? No wonder if takes so long. Surely there should be a seperate service for Derry and Belfast to Galway.
Perhaps StarCave should go on tour to showcase there product. Why not make the trip to Dublin on the 19th to show off?? :)
-
10/11/2004 at 8:25 am #15577AnonymousInactive
Dublin… Anytime.
Galway… Why not? Never been there.Just not 12th please, I’m @ ISA Awards.
Same in December on 10th, works’ Crimbo Do.Look fwd to see you all again.

The showcasing of Camelot Galway is possible however the launch remains. We are also linking this event with protenial investors as well with local people who are interested enough to see what is happening in the irish game development industry. More details soon but there is possible networking for private investment & at least one VC attending.
Lets have the shindig on the 26th as it seems alot more people will be able to attend either at the show or afters + shindig we will organise, its going to be a packed pub of gd for sure.

Hey guys, finally got Irish Broadband installed at home, if anyone knows how to boost the signal please let me know because it’s shite at the moment.
I’m around town on the 19th, but won’t be free after that due to exams fairly soon, so if the shindig is going ahead I should be able to make it.
If not, Pete give me a shout and we’ll go for a pint, I tried PMing you but you seem to be either very popular on the boards with the lads or too lazy to clear out your inbox (and sent items too).
Jamie (suffering under final year stress)

-
17/11/2004 at 1:48 pm #15781AnonymousInactive
Hi Tony,
The one in Galway on the 26th is definitely going ahead so hopefully we will get to see some of you folks down west for that.

Tony i think 26th in Galway was Darkbloods idea… i don’t want to be taking credit for other peoples ideas now :D
Dublin on the 19th looks more likely for me now..
not so sure about Galway though..
i think i have to go on tour next week.. one of my colleagues has gone sick ..shame.. I was looking forward to heading to the Camelot opening as well as a shindig.

-
19/11/2004 at 8:54 am #15878AnonymousInactive
Can’t do tonight, lads & ladettes, sorry – Quick ‘after-exams’ 1 pint with the colleagues, then home babysitting (long-standing debt, don’t ask ;))
Will make arrangements for December Dublin one, though – but please not on 10th else I’m f***ed.

Busker Browns on Cross Street, Galway. Top floor (cool looking spot) is our venue for the Galway Shindig on the 26th. Starting time around 9pm
(remember after the Galway Game Conference there is an afters at Camelot bar at 7.30 onwards which many of us game developers in Galway will move onto Buskers near 9pm)

so how did Friday in Galway go? I heard Alan Duggan was the star of the show!
-
29/11/2004 at 3:15 pm #16153AnonymousInactive
Don’t know that I would agree with that now Tony (blush).
I think you would have to say that the stars on the day were Starcave for managing to pull off something pretty special. I, for one, was well impressed with the job they did, not to mention their brilliant new product, Camelot Galway!

Neil Leyden, Chairman of the Digital Media Forum (If I have that right) also gave a well-crafted and entertaining presentation on the crossover between movies and games and section 481 in relation to the games industry.
-
29/11/2004 at 3:55 pm #16160AnonymousInactive
I know that I missed at least one other good presentation earlier in the day but my favourite was also Neil’s who was undeterred by having the grave-yard shift.
